For selfish reasons I am writing this because it’s for my future use. I’m passionate about sound, music, its production of it, and its application of it through various mediums, so this week I have decided to talk about different jobs I’ve learned about, a mini description, around how much they make, and some photos and videos from each position.
These are a few jobs I have found interesting and entertaining enough to the point I would genuinely apply for them. So, I hope others can find a good use for the content in this blog. Also, I left out the foley artist job because I already have a whole blog on that so you know, so stay tuned for my most preferred job of the 3! 4 if you count foley.

Primary duties: If you’ve ever been to a play or concert for example you’ll notice there is a little section that is closed off either completely or just by a couple of gates and barriers, with a lot of soundboards. The machines that they use with the dials, and volume channels are the soundboards. The people that control those are the sound board operators. Their primary goal is to make sure microphones, sometimes lights and special effects are turned on at the appropriate times.
So next time you’re at a concert notice when the artist makes motions towards the soundboard ops or if they call them through the microphone and notice the sound enhancing or switching up. This job operates, from what I’ve seen, completely live. Live radio and live performances, so the pressure is real.

A day in the life of an audio designer for video games typically involves a mix of creative work and technical tasks. They may spend time creating and editing audio assets using software tools, designing soundscapes that enhance the game’s atmosphere, and working with voice actors to record and edit dialogue. They also collaborate with other members of the game development team, such as artists and programmers, to ensure that audio elements are properly integrated into the game.
As you can probably tell, I think I would be most interested in this position because they work closely with the game development team to design and create music, sound effects, and voiceover recordings that enhance a player’s experience. Video game design has changed my life, anything from the emotional Minecraft C418 song to the intense battle music of Skyrim Elder Scrolls V. Overall, the role of an audio designer for video games is essential to creating a captivating and immersive gaming experience, which is something I’d love to contribute to someday.
